ADMISSIONS

Welcome to St. Leo the Great!

St. Leo's is dedicated to the philosophy of providing excellence in spiritual development and excellence in education for students in kindergarten through grade eight.

The admissions policies of St. Leo the Great are in keeping with pupil acceptance regulations of the Diocese of Cleveland.  

Students will be accepted for kindergarten if they are of legal age for this grade (five years of age on or before September 30).  Registrations for kindergarten will be accepted up to the first day of school, space permitting.  The class lists for kindergarten and any subsequent waiting lists are determined using two criteria:

           1)  Siblings already enrolled in St. Leo School

           2)  Length of time as registered parishioners.

If seats are available after the needs of the children of parishioners are met, non-parish students in grades K-8 will be addmitted following submission and principal review of child's most recent report card.

Incoming kindergarten students will be screened by the Early Prevention of School Failure readiness assessment. 

Transfer students for grades 1-8 must produce the most current report card.  Transfer applications are not complete until all academic and health records have been recieved from the transfer school.  Transfer students from grades 7 and 8 are ordinarily limited due to the difficulty of adjustment at this level.  Each case is handled individually.
